Every Day is an Adventure…

The sun is shining and we’re not complaining — because Tyler and I are leaving (hopefully) in the next hour on an 8 day bike tour. Today, we ride to Leadville, grab some pizza at High Mountain Pies and then ride out of town to Haggarman Pass, where we’ll trade in pavement for dirt. We’re hoping to make it up and over and then find a sweet spot to camp on the flip side. All in all, it’s about 55 miles today on the Surly!

Tomorrow, we’ve gotta get our butts in gear to beat some potential weather… we’ll be cruising down the other side of the pass (probably through some snow) past Rudeye Reservoir back onto pavement. Then we’re through Basalt and into Carbondale tomorrow afternoon. We’ll be kickin’ it in Carbondale with Tyler’s family until Friday, when we take to the open road again.

Friday afternoon will find us heading to Scofield Pass and a healthy dose of adventure biking. Snow, mud, hike-a-bike… we’ll be in for a few outdoor treats. Friday night we’ll camp under the stars somewhere and bomb down the other side of Scofield in the a.m.

Saturday after the morning descent, we’ll head into Crested Butte for a stretch break and some grub. After meandering a bit in the Butte (since I haven’t been there yet), we’ll keep rolling on to Gunnison… chill there a couple days… then catch a ride from our buddy Dan to Weston pass (south of Leadville). It’s up and over then on dirt into Fairplay, a night there and then back!

Stay tuned for the full report in about 8 days. Mayhem and mischief to follow!
