Please Read: A Few Simple Rules

The idea is to build a positive, encouraging community based on love, respect and belly laughs. To do so, I ask that everyone follow a few simple rules:

  1. Follow this blog using the subscribe button on the home page. Then follow me on Instagram (#the.sylva.lining).
  2. Afterwards, leave a message on the home page so I know how I can personally cheer you up.* Whatever I create for you will also be shared with the group via regular posts.**
  3. Interact with and encourage me and other members on the site (following the blog and Insta will also help us all stay connected).
  4. No negative comments or trolling. Mean, nasty trolls will be expelled from the School of Cool!!

*Luckily the Powers That Be have given me loads of eclectic and useful creative talents. What use are they if I don’t share them? Here are some examples of my “services:”

  1. Writing you a song using my handy dandy *new* electric keyboard.
  2. Drawing you a picture.
  3. Missing the movies? I can make you a must-see list by genre, mood or steamy actor of your choice.
  4. Missing museums, you nerd? I can write you a riveting article on the topic ofย  your choice– just tell me what you’re curious about.
  5. Missing the outdoors? I am sneaky enough to know where I can still go without getting busted and I can take a picture for you and/or tell you the story of my adventure.
  6. Good point I just made there… missing adventure in general? I have SO many pictures and stories I haven’t told from immigrating to Italy to back country skiing in Colorado, hiking and camping in Utah, bike touring in Mexico, Southeast Asia and Europe… Or I can invent something about traveling to Jupiter with my two-headed purple elephant and a canister of Sour Cream and Onion Pringles, if you like.
  7. Feeling lonely? I can write you a love letter or poem. Sappy or ridiculous? Your choice.
  8. ย Have some burning question? I can do a Tarot reading for you. No, I will not tell you when you’re going to die or that your head is going to fall off tomorrow. For me, Tarot is more about understanding, exploring and working with your own intuition.
  9. Feeling a bit… off? Unbalanced I’ve been dabbling in shamanism and energy healing. Let me do some long distance energy work on you. Or I can help you find the perfect meditation.
  10. Feeling stuck or indecisive? I can make you an entertaining yet useful “How To.” For example, “How to Know When to Change Your Pajamas During the (Second) Lockdown.” Or something a bit less serious and more useful like, “How to Let Go.”
  11. Need a “How To” that packs a punch? I can create a rite for you that helps you accomplish, for example, letting go. Or buying a new toothbrush.

Obviously, if there is something else that you/I/the collective can think of that would help more, let’s do that, too!

**Ifย  your situation is too personal to share with the group, please message me in private via the “Contact Sylva” page and we’ll come up with a solution.

Can’t wait to see what you make me do…

Lots of love,

Sylva

Would like to hear and see more

      1. Hey Steve!! Thanks a lot for following the blog, I’d love to write you up a little travel adventure. Stay tuned ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy weekend, stay sane and safe out there ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Sylva!! Sarah McHugh here – I need your help!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Here is my work email: sarah.mchugh@fourseasons.com – our friends are in Storm Mountain and stuck there. They did decide “not” to leave….however…I think there is a road that we can take to bring them supplies. I wanted to ask Tyler is he knew any forest rangers that we could talk to about this road etc…It is near carter lake and I gues it is an old hunting trail. Michael (husband!) was doing research. We can rent a hummer to get us in . I just thought a forest ranger would know best on how to do this….and…of course…I thought of my 2 favorite “truly mountain” people!!!! and you both have great hearts. ๐Ÿ™‚ BTW: can you imagine me in a hummer in the middle of the wilderness? haha, yes, rather funny. but, I need to help these dear friends of ours. Right now they have enough food etc…but..since I plan, we must be ready! fixing the thompson canyon road will be one year. what a joke. anyway can you help me??? hugs to you!!!!

  2. Dear Sylva,
Thanks for allowing me to act as tour guide from Davenport to Santa Cruz, CA. A rarely seen warm breeze on our backside at a leisurely pace make it a memorable day. I am sure you will figure out the Big Sur thing as a smile may go along way with those Contractors. Take care, be safe and I shall monitor your blog dreaming of your chosen path.

    Regards

    Bob

    1. Hey Bob!! So happy to see your comment here, you were an excellent spur of the moment tour guide! It was a lovely afternoon for a mellow cruise into town. I am currently on the other side of the broken bridge right now, chillin with an amazing family. I head back out on Saturday to ride Carmel Valley, still seems like the best route after talking with people. Hope to hear from you along the way!

      1. Dear Sylva,

The bridge is reported to be opening tomorrow but the Mud Creek slide south of Gorda not until Aug 2018. My suggestion is to head South on 1, a great route to Paso Robles on back roads for 100 miles and three days. The only real challenge is Nacimento-Ferguson Road…..7 miles at 7% grade. It may take you about 2-3 hours to climb it.

Day 1….Big Sur Park to Limekiln Campground. 25 miles. Visit the waterfall at midnight…its awesome. Day 2 Limekiln Campground to Mission San Antonio near Fort Hunter Liggett for camping next to mission. 35 miles with the big hill. Day 3 Mission San Antonio to Paso Robles about 55 miles or head to Atascadero and camp near town.

        1. Hey there! So I am happy to report I made it through the slide… snuck through at night… quite an adventure. So thank you very much for the suggestions anyway, I’m sure that would’ve also been a fun route. I am currently in Pismo Beach, headed to Buellton tomorrow. All is very, very well with me, hope the same for you!

    1. Sorry I missed this Sami! I would be so happy to ๐Ÿ™‚
